There are 2 jump-off points going to Mt. Pico de Loro. One is at Ternate Highway in Cavite and the other one is at Nasugbu in Batangas. The most taken trail is the one in Cavite since it's easier. For us, we did both, going there via Cavite and going back via Batangas.
If you are planning on exploring Mr. Pico de Loro, here's how to get there via Ternate, Cavite.
Take a bus bound for Ternate or Maragondon Cavite. There are several bus companies that can take you from Manila to Cavite. You can go to Lawton (Liwasang Bonifacio) or to the Provincial Bus Terminal at Coastal Mall, Baclaran. Fare is Php83.00.
Saulog Bus Lines - +63(46)431-1753
Erjohn & Almark Transit Corporation - +63(46)872-1154
San Agustin Transport Service Corp - +63(2)8745563
The bus will drop you off either at the Terminal along Ligaya Drive in Ternate, Cavite or at the terminal located at the town proper. Travel time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Make sure to leave early in the morning to avoid traffic.
From the terminal take a tricycle going to the DENR registration are in Ternate Highway. Fare is Php100.00 per person and takes 20 to 30 minutes, depends on the speed of the tricycle. On weekends, tricycle drivers are told not to speed up because there are a lot of people biking and running along the road.
There
are no signs or anything in the location, so ask anyone or any vendors where
you can register before the trek. Registration is at one of the stores located
near the rest room. Registration is Php25.00.
After registering and made sure everything you need is complete start the trek. The trek takes 3 hours depends on how fast you walk and how many stops you make. We did it for 2 hours and 7 minutes.
And here's how to get there via Brgy. Papaya, Nasugbu, Batangas.
Take a bus bound for Nasugbu, Batangas. There are a lot of buses terminal around Metro Manila that can take you to Nasugbu, depends on your location. The last time we went there, we took one stationed near the Sogo Hotel in Pasay City. Fare is Php140.00 per person and takes 2 to 3 hours, depends on traffic.

Tricycles terminal at Brgy. Papaya, Nasugbu |
At the bus terminal in Nasugbu town proper, hire a tricycle to take you to MSDC Security Force Training Ground in Brgy. Papay, Nasugbu. It's the drop-off to Mt. Pico de Loro. Fare is Php150.00 per person and takes 1 hours and 20 minutes.
Fare table and a store |
From there, you can hire a tour guide or just follow the trail. They said the trek here is shorter than the one in Cavite, but more steeper and difficult. We did it for 2 hours and 6 minutes, with more stops than our trek in Cavite.
I hope this will help you. Don't forget to share :)

Hello how much po kaya pag maghahire ng tour guide?
ReplyDeleteHi Nika, marami umaakyat sa Pico and madali lang ung trail. But if you want to hire a tour guide it's Php1,500.00. Try to haggle or find a group na pwede ka sumali para mas mura. Enjoy! :)
DeleteHi good afternoon. Is it safe for me to trek alone w/o tour guide? Via batangas. Coz I'm from Boracay going to batangas port. Tnx
ReplyDeleteHi Carl, i don't recommend hiking alone via the Batangas trek kase medyo matarik at confusing you ibang ways. And also, wala kaming nakasalubong that time na paakyat sa Mt. Pico, except sa mga kuya na nagdedeliver ng groceries sa mga tindahan at ilang mga batang lokal so wala kang mapagtatanungan. It's safe if via Cavite ka mag start ng trek dahil madami umaakyat at may mga signs. Maybe what you can do is ask around for a teenager na pwede ka samahan at mura lang bayad. Goodluck and be safe :)
