When you go to Brunei and curious about their produce and how they marketed it, go to Tamu Kianggeh or what others call the Kampung Kianggeh open air market. Like any other open air markets, which we also have here in the Philippines, this is the perfect place to buy cheap but fresh vegetables, fruits and other local products.
At first, I thought this is a night market where you can buy jewelries or accessories, but when we went there I found out that it's a wet market. They said that there are food stalls that can be found here too but I didn't see them when we were there. Maybe because we didn't explore far back enough or because we didn't have much time. We just passed by this market when we were going to the bus terminal to watch the Brunei's Foundation Day and we had to be on our way.
What I find interesting in this market is that it's located near the river but I can't see any garbage floating around. Not unless they sunk deep down, or this is really a clean river. The locals are friendly and even though I don't understand what they are saying, I have a fine idea that they are asking us to buy. I wish we can but we don't need to.
From the river near the market, you can also hail a boat to take you to Kampung Ayer, which you can also do near the Yayasan Complex. You won't miss this because of the Chinese Temple near the market. Don't forget to take your time enjoying the view!
